Our Year in Review: How Open LMS Supported a Fantastic 2025 for the L&D Community

As the year draws to a close, we’d like to take a moment to reflect. This year, we’ve helped our clients achieve successful online learning outcomes through continued innovation and strategic partnerships that keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in L&D.

Join us in celebrating not just our organization’s accomplishments, but everything the wider Open LMS community has achieved in 2025.

Feature and Plugin Enhancements Driving Innovation

In 2025, we enhanced our platform six times, including 12 new and 113 updated plugins for Open LMS EDU, as well as 39 new and 63 updated plugins for Open LMS WORK. Additionally, we upgraded our Snap theme to further improve course navigation and content visibility, giving users a more intuitive and streamlined LMS experience.

These platform upgrades and enhancements are indicative of Open LMS’s commitment to continuous improvement, ensuring we continue to meet the diverse learning technology needs of administrators and end users alike.

Some of our key feature updates include:

  • Personalized Learning Designer as an activity: We’ve overhauled our exclusive legacy feature to make PLD easier to use and more accessible to instructors and administrators. We’ve also added a new condition that automatically checks a user’s cohort membership when triggered in the LMS.
  • Open LMS Sessions: Newly included by default across all Open LMS installations, this feature supports blended learning with a comprehensive set of tools for instructor-led sessions.
  • Centralized Content Management (CCM): This tool was previously exclusive to Open LMS EDU. Now users of our EDU and Open LMS WORK products can use this tool to simplify the creation, replication, and maintenance of consistent content across multiple courses.
  • Conduit: We’ve extended access to our exclusive administrative plugin to clients across Open LMS EDU and Open LMS WORK, offering streamlined control over user creation, course enrollment, course creation, group and cohort management, and more.
  • AI Text-to-Questions: This newly integrated tool helps you quickly and efficiently generate quiz questions using artificial intelligence.
  • Expanded AI Provider Support: Open LMS now allows you to leverage AI from Gemini, Anthropic, and Deepseek.
  • New accessibility plugin: We’ve upgraded our platforms to turn accessibility features on by default, giving your end-users the power to customize the visual appearance of your site according to their individual preferences.
  • Open LMS eCommerce upgrades: Open LMS now supports payment gateways from PayPal, Authorize.net, and PayU.
