How Do You Build the Most Vibrant eLearning Community on the Planet?

Every time I get to write something about what is happening at Open LMS, I get more excited about what the future holds for us and our community… and today is no different. I’m excited to announce that LMSPulse, one of the premier news sources for #EdTechNerds like me, is joining forces with E-Learn Magazine, Open LMS’s community initiative to share best practices around eLearning. Just as importantly, Stephen Ladek, the Director of LMSPulse will be joining the Open LMS team as our Principal of eLearning Advocacy.

Why am I so excited about this? Those of you who know me, know my favorite thing to do is build great teams and invest in great people. Over the past year, as we addressed the challenges brought on by the pandemic, we also looked for ways that it was presenting opportunities. One of these opportunities began as a simple conversation Stephen and I started around the question of “How do you build the most vibrant eLearning community on the planet?”

Stephen’s passion for online learning is remarkable. He’s not only the Director of LMSPulse, he’s the creator and moderator of many initiatives around eLearning like the eLearning Podcast and the eLearning Success Summit, which currently has more than 7,000 participants in 2021. As our conversation evolved, it became clear that combining the efforts of LMSPulse and e-learn Magazine was a move that would accelerate the growth of the type of community we both wanted to support.

What does this mean to readers and subscribers of LMSPulse and E-Learn Magazine? Not a lot right away, other than some logo updates to say “Powered by E-Learn Magazine” or something like that. Also, the eLearning Podcast and eLearning Success Summit will continue to run as-is. However, in the very near term, we will be creating more and better content, expanding video capabilities, and creating more interactive experiences for the eLearning Community. Over time, you’ll see some clearer delineation between the intent of each of the properties with LMSPulse being more real-time, news-oriented, and e-learn Magazine being focused on longer-form, deeper pieces about learning. We think both are important to helping eLearning professionals find success.

What does it mean for the attendees and sponsors of the eLearning Success Summit? Again, the joining of forces between LMSPulse and E-Learn Magazine should be nothing but good news. We are already planning next year’s summit, and have some big ideas for how we can continue to make it better and a more effective way to share best practices around the world. That includes inviting the very top eLearning experts – regardless of platform – to present, sponsor, and make the conference open to everyone passionate about how we continue to make eLearning incredibly valuable for all.

If we do it right, the combination of these two communities will only serve to lift the energy, increase the value and build momentum for everyone involved in eLearning. We think we’ve got the right team to make that happen and we’re very excited by the possibilities that lie ahead.

I wholeheartedly invite you to join me and everyone at Open LMS on this journey! You can do so today by subscribing to LMSPulse and E-Learn Magazine to keep up with the latest developments. And, you can register to participate in the 2021 eLearning Success Summit as the team continues to add more content and contribute to conversations with the presenters.
