Open LMS Partners With Brickfield Education Labs, Expands Accessibility Capabilities

Raleigh, N.C. (May 26, 2023) – Open LMS, a leading global provider of open-source learning management systems (LMSs), today announces its partnership with Brickfield Education Labs. The collaboration will provide Open LMS users with tools to ensure their content is accessible for all learners.

Brickfield’s Moodle™ Accessibility Toolkit is directly integrated into Open LMS’s platform. It will automatically evaluate course content and assessments for accessibility issues, prioritize efforts based on the activities that create the most barriers for students, and help teachers gain a deep understanding of which accessibility errors recur in their content. Brickfield’s partnership with Open LMS will also provide faculty with free ongoing training to ensure they’re working with the most up-to-date information when developing their online courses for students with disabilities.

“Partnering with Brickfield Education Labs reaffirms Open LMS’s commitment to helping clients ensure their content is accessible to all students,” said Phill Miller, managing director of Open LMS. “Whether it’s fixing broken HTML tags, improving link descriptions, or creating content in accessible formats like audio, ePub, electronic braille, and more, this partnership gives course creators tools that ensure their content meets the needs of all their students.”

Open LMS’s partnership with Brickfield Education Labs comes hot on the heels of Global Accessibility Day on May 18. This awareness day highlights the universal need for greater effort toward digital accessibility and the total inclusion of people with disabilities via online tools, apps, and more. According to the ADA Network, students with disabilities typically report several benefits of online learning, including lower stress levels, greater schedule flexibility, and increased control of the learning process.

“As our world moves further into the digital age, our accessibility standards must also continue to evolve, we must imagine a world where learning is accessible to all, by default.” said Gavin Henrick, CEO and Co-Founder of Brickfield Education Labs. “Our platform helps learning management systems meet students where they are to provide them with an equally effective and equally integrated content experience that can propel them forward in their educational journeys.”
