Closing of eCreators acquisition: Welcome to Open LMS!

By: Phill Miller

I’m thrilled to announce that our acquisition of eCreators was completed on 1 October 2020, finishing what we just announced last week. Now comes the real work, integrating the teams and platforms, and continuing to provide the best possible Moodle™ experience in the world.

Since we made the announcement just over a week ago, we’ve been busy getting to know the new team members and sharing our products and processes between both teams. I’m even more excited about the possibilities than I was when we made the announcement. We’re also trying to have fun along the way. The other night/day, we hosted a virtual lunch for the Open LMS employees in Adelaide and the eCreators team in Melbourne (It wasn’t lunch time for me here in Indiana… more like a midnight snack). These are two teams that had been doing amazing work with Moodle™ for more than 10 years, located only a few hundred miles away from each other, but they barely knew each other.

It’s only been six months since we created the new Open LMS and separated from Blackboard, but this marks a really big step in our new growth. I’ve been able to connect with a number of our clients around the world and let them know that we’re adding this new team of Moodle™ experts, and that we’re going to be adding some of the great functionality that they’ve built into Open LMS.

We also have to be honest about the work that’s in front of us. Bringing teams and cultures together is not easy. Bringing two different client communities together (even if they’re both using Moodle™) will require real work. It seems like the team is up to the challenge.

We’re going to be sharing a lot more about where we are going at our Open LMS Live events this week, including a spot from our new VP of Product, Dean Saunders. If you haven’t already registered, make sure to go to the Open LMS community and sign up. See you there!
