Meet Suzana Slonzon
“My name is Suzana Slonzon. I’m the academic coordinator here at Trevisan. I coordinate the undergraduate and online MBA courses and manage the NEAD, our core team for distance learning (EAD) content.
“Trevisan’s goal is always to bring the market closer to the classroom and the classroom closer to the market. Trevisan was born out of a consultancy, and today is one of the main business schools chosen especially by the Big Four—large companies looking for professionals who already understand the theory and are ready for practical application, just as our motto says: “‘Ready for the next morning.’”
Overcoming Growth and Engagement Challenges
“When we use a tool to centralize content (mainly for the online modality at first, and later extending it to live streaming), it brings centralization and process improvements.
“Before this process with Open LMS, students faced greater difficulties. There were too many platforms and no unification. That was the challenge we faced before using Open LMS’s tools. Without Open LMS’s tools, students lacked a central, uniform set of materials. A pedagogical difficulty we had was ensuring students could easily locate their content, find their classes, and access their support materials. Without the tool, this pedagogically harms the students’ learning.
“With growth—meaning more students, more courses, and more subjects—we always face the challenge of keeping students engaged, and of keeping materials updated within a tool that keeps pace with market strategies.
“Our challenge, which Open LMS has been helping us overcome, is always striving for practicality—a way for students to locate their materials with greater ease despite their hectic daily routines.”

“Open LMS helped all our students. They don't need to leave the platform to watch an online class and go to another platform to watch a live class. They have a single channel where they can find everything.”
Transitioning to a 100% Digital Institution
“Open LMS plays a pivotal role within Trevisan’s ecosystem. Trevisan became a 100% digital institution during the [COVID-19] pandemic. We offer courses in the synchronous live online and asynchronous online modalities.
“Open LMS helped all our students. They don't need to leave the platform to watch an online class or go to another platform to watch a live class. They have a single channel where they can find everything.”
Student Tracking and Analytics
“A very important feature is progress tracking. Within the tool, we can monitor student access reports. This allows us to know whether a student is active or has been inactive for a certain period and might become a future dropout.
“We also have per-subject progress reports. We can track whether a student is watching all the classes and doing the activities. In terms of management, this brings us much closer, as does communication. The communication format we use to interact with students—whether it’s our mediators, teachers, or coordinators communicating with students, or among students themselves—is very intuitive and clear. A copy is sent via email, which helps immensely with management on the academic coordination side.”

“Before the Areas feature, if a student was doing two courses, they would log in and see all the subjects mixed together, regardless of the course. With the inclusion of Areas, we now have segmented environments. This brought greater organization, easier content location, and faster navigation.”
The Impact of Open LMS Plugins and Segmented “Areas”
“[Open LMS] brought a totally different experience. We had been looking for a better experience for our students for a while—an environment that was truly pleasant, organized, and beautiful, one that matched what companies look for. Students need practicality, speed in finding their material, and an environment they actually enjoy being in. Using the plugin gave a major boost to the platform; it was a total “before and after” difference.
“The Areas feature was another very important differentiator. Before, when accessing the platform, students saw all the courses they were enrolled in within the exact same interface. We have students who sometimes do a second undergraduate degree alongside a postgraduate degree, or executive education courses alongside an undergraduate or postgraduate degree—it’s a vast universe.
Before the Areas feature, if a student was doing two courses, they would log in and see all the subjects mixed together, regardless of the course. With the inclusion of Areas, we now have segmented environments. If a student wants to enter Course X, they click on Course X and see only the subjects for that course. If they want to access Course Y, they see only the subjects for that course. This brought greater organization, easier content location, and faster navigation.”
Rebranding and Platform Integration
“We rebranded in October [of 2025], launching between October and November. Open LMS accompanied us throughout this process, from remodeling the entire environment with our colors and new visual identity to the new structure itself. All of this created a modern environment, which is the new face of Trevisan. Open LMS participated in every stage, holding alignment meetings to bridge our ideas with how we could apply them within the tool.
“With the integration between TOTVS (our registrar system), our enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, and Open LMS, students experience much greater speed, from enrollment, through classroom attendance, to streaming their subjects. Without this integration, the process had to go through a manual assignment procedure before students could get access.
“Now that the process is integrated, when a student makes a purchase on the website, TOTVS automatically recognizes the student. Within a few minutes, it integrates with the LMS, and the student has access to their learning environment.”

“The fact that we chose to renew the contract and extend our partnership is precisely because Open LMS modernized the tool. We saw a true leap in quality and a real care for the environment. This gave us the security and trust to maintain and extend our contract with Open LMS.”
LMS Support and Platform Stability
“Support [from Open LMS] is excellent. Every time we have a demand, a question, a platform update, or something that needs adjustment, the support team is always ready to help. This brings peace of mind regarding platform usage because we know we have a direct contact, in addition to access via support tickets. The support team is always willing to implement improvements. They listen to us, understand our day-to-day operations, what works for us, and what doesn't (even if it might work for another client). It’s a highly consultative and essential support system.
“It’s also a very stable tool. It’s very rare for the platform to go down. For us, this is paramount. If a student takes an online course and the tool goes down, they’re negatively impacted. The tool’s stability helps students feel secure about their access.”
Key LMS Highlights and Trevisan’s Contract Renewal
“To summarize the highlights:
- Tracking Tools: From access reports, progress, and grade reports to all the log data we can export. This allows for closer student monitoring.
- Integration: This is highly important because the student has direct access between enrollment and system entry, providing great speed.
- Environment Organization: This sets us apart because students can quickly identify everything they have within the tool. We can also include other important links, allowing them to go straight to the registrar, external tools, or dashboards.
- Flexibility: For example, we now have the favorite function, allowing students to organize their studies and flag the subject they want to focus on at that moment.
“The fact that we chose to renew the contract and extend our partnership is precisely because Open LMS modernized the tool. One of the deciding factors was the implementation of the plugin, which brought a whole range of new features, updates, visual possibilities, and process improvements. We saw a true leap in quality and a real care for the environment. This gave us the security and trust to maintain and extend our contract with Open LMS.”
Advice for Other Institutions Looking for an LMS
“First, look for a reliable tool that offers flexibility. What do I mean by flexibility? A tool where you can manage things yourself. Many platforms require a specific person with knowledge of HTML or complex tools just to change a piece of information.
“When you have a flexible tool, you enjoy the freedom to make your own changes and organize the environment in the way that is best for you and your students. You can create segmentations and choose from various display models.
“For example, if you don't want continuous scrolling, you can set the content vertically or horizontally. All of this makes things easier because listening to the student is vital, and every institution has a different profile.
“It’s crucial to evaluate the tool itself, but once evaluated, the structuring and ongoing monitoring of that tool are just as important. What content are you providing? What is your tracking process? What is your content review schedule? Based on my experience, those are the main points to consider for anyone looking to implement digital classroom tools.”
